Guapa, Guapa, Guapísima!

¿Que tal?

I have decided that one of my faaaaavorite things here is the excessive use of the word "guapa/guapo" which essentially means "cute," "good-looking," "handsome," "beautiful," or "great," depending on the context. Everyone throws "guapas" around,  especially towards all women, but I ignore the lack of selectivity and choose to be flattered anyway! I need to appreciate the salutation while I`m here because back in the states I`m pretty sure if the older male store clerk throws out a "See ya later cutie," I`ll probably just be creeped out...

Moving on! I never shared about the Córdoba trip! A two hour scenic bus ride lead us to a quaint part of this city which bears intense religious historic significance. One of the main attractions was the Mezquita-Catedral. I won`t ramble about all of the details because I honestly don`t remember and it would be terribly boring! I will sum up the interesting history in saying that this building is both a mosque AND a cathedral and symbolizes the change from Arab to christian rule way back when. Cool right? Well the place is enormous and realllllly ornate and it was great to look around.

Cool shot from a little side street!

Inside of the Mezquita-  There are 850 of those columns in there!

On the way to another attraction I did make quite the embarrassing error that I was unable to recover from. I`ve written about the babies here; too cute for words. Well I encountered such a specimen in a stroller looking adorable as her daddy was tending to a wheel, and I felt it so necessary to address the baby with a Spanish "AWWW how are youuuuu??" Upon making a very sour face at me, my immediate reaction was to laughingly say (in Spanish again) "Oh, she doesn`t like me!" All of this would have been fine if I had remembered correctly HOW to translate this sentence in my brain, but instead I uttered a "Awww I don't like her!" And then I ran away after realizing that I had just accidentally told a father that I didn't like his baby girl...Not quite fluent yet, I'm working on it!
